Snowboarding
What is snowboarding?

Snowboarding is a winter sport in which a person rides down a snow-covered slope standing sideways on a board called a snowboard, with both feet strapped to the board using bindings. It is related to skateboarding, surfing, and skiing, but it has its own unique style and techniques.

History of creation

Snowboarding developed in the United States in the 1960s and 1970s. Early pioneers like Sherman Poppen, who invented the "Snurfer," and Jake Burton Carpenter, who founded Burton Snowboards, helped turn the idea into a real sport. At first, many ski resorts banned snowboarding, but by the 1980s and 1990s it became widely accepted. Snowboarding became an official Olympic sport in 1998 at the Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.
